Barcelona and The Jocs Florals, 1859

The exhibition aims to commemorate the anniversary of the 'restoration' of the Games by situating that episode at a key moment in Barcelona's contemporary history: a time when the city's elites, faced with the real prospect of material and institutional transformations (among them the Cerdà Plan), developed cultural construction strategies to legitimize and dignify themselves.
