Racionalist Barcelona: The Architectural Avant-gardes of the 1920s and 1930s
At the end of the 1920's, a group of young Catalan architects and designers came together with the aim of renovating the philosophical and aesthetic ideas behind their work. They sought to do away with all unnecessary decoration and embellishments, they proclaimed that form had to follow function, and that there could be no beauty in anything that wasn't useful and practical.
