Shanghai was a frenzy of development in the early 20th century as businessmen, thrill-seekers and refugees poured in from all corners of the globe.The Far East's most cosmopolitan city exuded luxury, style and excitement. One building on Shanghai's waterfront Bund captured it all: the Cathay Hotel (known today as the Fairmont Peace Hotel).
