Marc-Antoine Laugier summarized the origin of architecture in a tree construction and Gottfried Semper identified the braided plant walls of a Caribbean hut as one of the fundamental elements of living. Vegetation has therefore been part of architecture since its origins and has been present in various construction traditions that are now being incorporated into contemporary practice to take advantage of its t hermic qualities, its ease of execution and its low environmental impact.
