An adventure novel set in the life of sailors and sealers, The Sea Dog (1904) - inspired, like much of the work of Jack London (1876-1916), by his own experiences and characters known to him - revolves largely around torno Captain Larsen, symbol of superman, physical strength and endurance, in whose contradictory personality violence and primitivism coexist with the mentality of a refined man sensitive to poetry and philosophy.
