On October 6, 1869, in the Empordà town of La Bisbal, a fight broke out between nearly three thousand men in arms and the troops of the Kingdom of Spain. He ser the Foc de la Bisbal, a revolutionary uprising that aimed to put an end to the absolute monarchy and turn Spain into a federal Republic.
