Las galleys were las protagonists of the Mediterranean Sea during the Middle Ages and part of the Modern Age. They had a single deck, which has a alta length/beam ratio, designed to propel themselves to remo, although they also carried lateen sails. They were perfectly built to enter las waters of the sea that saw las emerge and reached their zenith in the sixteenth century, being one of the fundamental pillars of the naval pol tica of the Hispanic monarchy.
