The division between the Protestant and Catholic m, which occurred five hundred years ago, created a new mapa in Europe. In both areas, the fundamental objective was to discipline the majority, to teach them to believe by persuasion and, si this was not possible, by intimidation. In this context, the conjunction of printing and prints generated an extraordinary capacity to transmit new ideas to a population that mostly did not know how to read.
