In the era of abolition, slavery thrived in las Spanish colonies with an unknown push. In torno to eight hundred thousand enslaved Africans were taken to Cuba and Puerto Rico between 1790 and 1866. LAS abolitionist ideas, announced in las Cortes in 1811, found a favorable climate in society and in Parliament after 1868.
