The Spanish Civil War left behind ola a mutilated architectural landscape and the collective memory of an entire country substantially diminished. The imperative need to close these wounds so tangible in the daily life of Spaniards, as well as to re-establish their basic m services, prompted the creation of the Devastated Regions and Reparations Service, the future General Directorate of Devastated Regions.
