How can you give new life to an abandoned sec dike? BIG Architects have designed an extraordinary museum to relive Denmark's proud maritime history. The Danish Maritime Museum will fit into a unique historical and spatial context between Denmark's m is important buildings of Kronborg Castle world-famous and an ambitious new cultural center. In order to preserve the dock as an open a l air space, BIG has placed the underground museum, just outside the wall of a sec dock in a previously abandoned shipyard. In this underground position, the museum appears as part of the cultural environment, while at the same time resting as an independent institution.
