73 Barcelones is an exhibition that presents maps produced in 2023 and conceived by architects who inhabit the city and was exhibited in gallery C of the DHUb from April 20 to 30. CADA participant has been invited to represent one of the 73 neighbourhoods that make up the city, through a cartographic perspective fica that from the neighbourhood, rethinks, articulates and redraws the entire city.
Maps have always placed something considered valu bear in the spotlight, from colonial representations of unknown territories to imperial representations, the population census or tourist destinations. The inequalities of contemporary cities are constructed and perceived through maps. This exhibition pret to question these values, lines and forms of representation, and to open the debate on what we value and what it means to represent quan we look, live, inhabit and draw our cities. Taking the neighbourhood as a starting point, as a unit of urban empathy, the exhibition pret by revealing other valuable aspects that our cities should build.
CADA drawing understood as a manifesto of thought and action, one of the great means of architectural generation or communication, operates on very different scales for the creation of a new cartography of the city of Barcelona.
73 Barcelones, is an exhibition presented dins the second edition of the Model Festival d'Arquitectures de Barcelona, curated by Noa Yarkoni, Tiffany Whittaker and Mar Gené (Winners of the Model a l'Curatorial Experimentation' Award). This project is presented with the support of the La Capell Cooperative and the HUB Barcelona Design.
The drawings can ser purchased through an online auction that ends on June 20 and is organized by La Capell that supports the Model Scholarship for emerging voices. The profits obtained from this auction will be entirely allocated to the Model Scholarship. Model Festival d'Arquitectures de Barcelona, founded by Barcelona City Council and the Architects' Association of Catalonia (COAC) in 2022 and this year organized by the MIES van der Rohe Foundation, is for the second consecutive time a space for plural and multidisciplinary reflection on address the challenges of the twenty-first century from architecture and urban planning. This second edition, directed by Eva Franch i Gilabert, with the theme EMPATIA RADICAL, becomes an opportunity to explore from different perspectives the cultural richness of a city that has constantly redefined the way of thinking about cities and the environment builds t.
